The combine set themselves up with a massive day one total of 322 runs giving Pomonal plenty of work to do.

While Pomonal couldn't complete the run chase it occupied the crease for 73 overs giving Swifts Great Western no time to think about the out right win.

Attacking shots from Pomonal were few and far between as it chipped the ball round and rotated the strike.

Adnan Rasheed was the best of the best for Pomonal as he made his way to 48 runs before he was run out by Gary Ranton.

Lee Oliver and Al McKay provided some resistance at the back end of the innings when the game had already been won by Swifts Great Western.

Swifts Great Western bowler Jamie Bach led the attack for the majority of the day bowling 23.1 overs.

In those 23 overs he produced seven maidens and four wickets finishing the day with figures of 4/54.

Marc Brilliant also bowled well taking three wickets for minimal runs.

Had Swifts Great Western been able to force Pomonal into a second innings earlier in the day and put some pressure on the out right win would have been a realistic chance, but it wasn't to be.

Buangor was in a similar position when it took on Chalambar.

Buangor made an aggressive declaration after just 53 overs when it led by 114 runs.

Jack Ganley added to his innings of 68 from last weekend making his way to 123.

The individual score of Ganley was more then the entire Chalambar line up could manage.

Chalambar looked unsettled at the crease in its second innings, but found a way through.

Jake Robinson made a solid 54 and Sam Pilgrim made 26 for Chalambar to wipe the deficit clean by stumps.

Ben Jackson was the only player from Buangor to take multiple wickets.

Rain was never going to be an issue but that didn't stop a wet pitch from preventing play between Aradale and Youth Club at Alexandra Oval.

At around 11.30am Saturday morning the automatic sprinklers came on at Alexandra Oval and it took Ararat Rural City Council workers around 40 minutes to shut them off.

Consequently the pitch was too wet for play to commence at 1pm. The pitch had to be rolled and allowed to dry before play started at 3.10pm.

Because so much time was lost, the match had to proceed under ordinary conditions where the match is to finish at 6pm regardless of the amount of overs bowled.

With limited overs neither team was able to complete what they set out to do.

It was disappointing for the Grampians Cricket Association and both clubs as the game was on a level playing field following the first day.

Brent Tate and Andrew Wood each finished unbeaten on 33 and 31 runs.

Aradale's innings was cut short at 2/89 after 51 overs.
