THE launch of the 'Shaun the Sheep Pompom Parade in the Pyrenees' project took place in Landsborough with more than 100 people attending.

Pyrenees Presents hosted the event and was delighted with the success of the day, with students attending from Landsborough Primary School and Skene Street School, residents from Eventide Homes and Garden View Court, Stawell Nursing Home, participants from Ararat and Stawell Day Centres and lots of locals and visitors of all ages.
The day consisted of woolly workshops where many were focused on the making of pompom sheep for Shaun's Parade.
Ballarat artists Laura Mah and Emily Van Der Molen facilitated the workshop which also featured finger knitting and additional crafts, creating a wall hanging.
Local artist Dawn Lim facilitated a spinning wool workshop, where children from as young as four learnt to spin wool that was grown locally.
Joe Peacock brought along some of his merino and crossbred fleeces, along with some of Bernie Brown's, to showcase a woolclassing workshop. Joe shared his knowledge and expertise on the subject of sheep farming.
Bryan Putt and Megan Finlayson ran a fantastic 'pop up' cinema in the hall, featuring a 20 minute film on sheep farming in the 1930s in Australia. The cinematic experience was complemented by popcorn for all.
Padraic Fisher, director of the National Wool Museum was guest speaker for the day.
With two of Mr Fisher's friends visiting from America also joining him at the event and exploring the streets of Landborough - all were very 'hands on' in the workshops, as well as chatting with all the locals.
They were 'blown away' by the event and how it engaged with the local community and people from all walks of life, age and ability. They were warmed by the friendly locals and thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Moonbeam Cottages in Moonambel.

"Thank you for inviting me! And congratulations to everyone for a fantastic event and turnout."
Lots of prizes were given away on the day which created much excitement.
Pyrenees Presents would like to thank everyone that came along and to all the volunteers that helped out on the day and leading up to the event.
The project will run until late March where all of the pompom sheep will be exhibited at Ararat Regional Art Gallery for a month.
