These pots will be auctioned next Monday December 1 as part of a fundraising effort to raise money for Tess Tonks, the much loved drama teacher at Marian college who is currently battling her second round of breast cancer in two years.

Ms Tonks is an inspiration for her positive attitude and strength and has made a large contribution to the local Ararat performing arts scene and inspired many students over the years.

"The auction is a great opportunity if you are interested in collecting art and want to buy a great investment piece," Simone Conroy from the College said.

"The Facebook page includes a recommendation from a Melbourne ceramic gallery Skepsi on the value of collecting John's work."

The pots would normally retail around $300 - $400 in galleries, but due to Mr Eagle's generosity he is placing capped bidding at $200 to allow people in the community that wouldn't normally be able to afford his work an opportunity to be able to purchase. The minimum bid for each pot is $50.

"We are encouraging as many people from the community to come along and support the auction and bid for these items," Ms Conroy said.

There is a Facebook group that has been set up called 'Turning for Tess' and this allows for people to view each individual pot and also links to place absentee bids if they are unable to make the auction in person. This also allows for people all over Australia to bid and then postage can be arranged if they are the successful bidder. There are also four limited edition etchings available for auction, which have also been kindly donated by local printmaker Rosemary Eagle.

People that are unable to view the Facebook page are encouraged to view the pots in the Gallery window (corner of Barkly and King Street) or alternatively contact the school and an email with the links can be forwarded to them.

"The pots will make fantastic, one of a kind Christmas gifts, as well as supporting Tess and her family," Ms Conroy said.

People are invited to come along to the auction that runs from 4pm- 6pm next Monday December 1 in the Applied Learning Centre on the corner of Barkly and King street Ararat.
