While Tatyoon bounced back from its opening round loss to Swifts/Great Western, the visitors were made to work as Chalambar posted a reasonable total and then backed that up with a strong bowling performance.
On their home pitch Chally's top order batsmen got a start with Lakhvir Singh (27) and Brett Crone (20) leading the way.
A middle order collapse saw Chalambar rely on its tail end to limp past 100.
Andrew Ward took just 11 deliveries to end the Chalambar innings, with the Tatyoon medium pacer taking three wickets for three runs.
Tatyoon took 27.5 overs to make the set total of 107, with new recruit John Butler the only player to post a significant contribution of 26.
Like Chalambar several players got starts, but no one took advantage and pushed on to make a big total.
Luke Walker was the chief destroyer for Chalambar with seven wickets for 32 runs from his eight overs, as the team sent a message to the rest of the GCA that they would be no easy beats in weeks to come.
Two half centuries from brothers Harry and Jack Ganley helped steer Buangor to victory against Swifts/Great Western in the clash at Alexandra Oval.
Buangor won the toss and elected to field sending Swifts opening pair Jame Devery and Sam Cocks to the crease.
The duo was unable to repeat its partnership from round one however, with Cocks dismissed for seven runs and Devery for nine.
Craig Marrow once again put runs on the board in quick time for the Combine, with a solid unbeaten knock of 81.
Classy batsman Travis Nicholson played his first game of the summer, but was unable to have an impact with just five runs, while Tom Eckel added 13 runs in his short stint before the 40 overs clocked over to spell an end to Swifts/Great Western's innings resulting in a score of 4/137.
Best of the Buangor bowling attack was Ben Hargreaves with 2/21 from his eight overs.
Beginning the run chase, Buangor looked in trouble early at 2/25, as Chris Jerram and Shaun Allen both missed out on the runs, however Jack Ganley helped steady the ship when he joined Harry in the centre.
The pair began to chip away at the deficit, with Harry the first to raise his bat for a half century before being dismissed on 55. Jack later reached his milestone and finished 53 not out.
Jack Boatman offered support as Buangor completed the run chase in 30 overs.
Nicholson’s three wickets was the most of any bowler in the match, however he was expensive going at more than a run a ball.
In the final match of the round Aradale was too strong for Pomonal in the match at Central Park.
John Pollock gave Pomonal a handy start with an impressive knock of 38, while Sam Spark and John Johnston each made 19 runs, but other than that there was little continuity in the Pomonal score card.
Aradale closed out the match in style with all rounder Matt Stasse again impressive with the bat, smashing 37 runs, while young-gun Riley Wood went one better with 38 to top score.
Lee Oliver’s 3/30 was the best bowling figure for Pomonal in the loss.
