It is believed the chainsaws were stolen over the past four to five months.
Police have charged several offenders in relation to handling stolen goods, but have not at this stage been able to match the chainsaws to reports that they have received.
If anyone is missing a chainsaw, and knows what brand it is, the model number, warranty cards or has a serial number to compare it with should contact Detective Senior Constable Steve Oliver at Ararat Police Station on 5355 1500.
