Willaura Cup brings racing and revelry

TODAY'S T.M ‘Murray’ Slattery Willaura Cup is shaping as much more than a day at the races, with the event once again placing a strong focus on community, comfort and entertainment for all ages. In what is forecast to be perfect weather, organisers are confident racegoers will enjoy the day in comfort, with plenty of air conditioning indoors and increased shade throughout the course.

In recent years, heat and limited shelter have posed challenges, but significant work has been done to improve conditions for the public.

A standout addition this year is a new shaded area known as ‘The Podium’, featuring permanent umbrellas in a prime position along the mounting yard fence at the finish line. The area provides racegoers with an ideal vantage point while offering relief from the sun.

Packages include one table and ten chairs, and offers unbeatable access to the track, winning post, betting ring, public bars, and live entertainment.

The club has also worked hard to add extra shaded spaces around the grounds, ensuring patrons can escape the heat when needed.

Entertainment will be a key feature of the day, with live music provided by Dave Nicholson, adding to the relaxed, festive atmosphere.

Families are well catered for, with a face painter on site, while food options will include popular vendors such as Snack Shack and a coffee van.

Those attending the raceday function will be treated to catering by Jodie and Co.

Willaura Cup raceday coordinator Jill Richardson praised the presentation of the track and surrounds, saying everyone has been working tirelessly and that the venue is looking “amazing”.

She also acknowledged the efforts of track manager Jade Kennedy, crediting him with doing a tremendous job in preparation for the event.

The first race of the seven-race meeting will get underway at approximately 1 PM, and while final fields are not yet known at the time of writing, the cup field is set to be highly competitive.

With racing, entertainment and a strong community focus, the Willaura Cup promises to be an enjoyable day out for all.
