An intense and exciting match prevailed when Beaufort took on the ladder leader Invermay in the Division 3 Bowls Grand Final in Ballarat on Saturday and emerged at the end of the afternoon as premiers!

Both clubs had great support with Beaufort’s blue shirts in abundance around the rinks cheering when a great bowl was sent down or knocking out the opponents to gain another shot.

This year four of the six teams fielded by Beaufort across the Divisions played in the finals with the other two only missing out in the final game of the season.

With four rinks with four members each playing a total of 21 Ends each, the result was Beaufort 73 to Invermay 59.

Beaufort’s teams results were:

Jenny Trengove, Ashley Haynes, Debbie Stanaway and Brian Hayes won their game by 5 shots:  17 to 12.

Michael Anstis, Wilma Wereszczuk, Frank Gilders and Stef Wereszczuk won their game by 1 shot:  18 to 17.

Carmel Milenkovic, Keith Topp, Sandy Laidlaw and Rohan Quinton drew their game:  18 all.

Aaron Cuthbertson, Graeme Anthony, Mike McGuire and Stephen Topp won their game by 8 shots:  20 to 12.

Tony Ryan was emergency and Stuart Quixley the Manager.

The excitement was evident with high fives a plenty, loads of clapping and cheering and the opportunity to move into Division 2 on the line. It is a few years since Beaufort has been in Division 2, so the celebrations were well and truly in order.
