Waterloo gets connected
AFTER years of poor connectivity, high speed fixed wireless NBN is now available to residents in Waterloo, Chute, Raglan and the surrounding area. The NBN Fixed Wireless tower is located close to the Musical Gully Reservoir and is set to improve broadband connectivity across the local area.
It will support smoother voice calls, enhanced streaming, faster downloads and the ability to connect more devices at the same time.
The Waterloo site is the second Fixed Wireless tower delivered under the Connecting Victoria Program, with a tower in Lexton being the first.
Additional towers in Landsborough and Skipton are now active and locals can connect for faster and more reliable connections.
The Waterloo Fixed Wireless tower was officially launched on Wednesday 16 April at the Waterloo Community Shed.
Chris Cusack, General Manager of NBN Local, spoke to the group of local residents, outlining the benefits of the new service and the improved reliability.
Member for Ripon Martha Haylett was also in attendance, saying local residents will “now be more connected than ever”, as a result of the State Government’s Connecting Victoria Program.
There was quite a bit of chatter amongst the residents at the meeting about finally being able to have access to a dependable internet service and have choice in the service providers.
Jim Nolan, CEO Pyrenees Shire, acknowledged the challenges that many residents faced with the internet and his team had worked closely with NBN in providing residents access to wireless internet.

Standard installation of Fixed Wireless internet is free through NBN Co, however, customers will then need to select a service provider.
