Twin burglaries in Beaufort

Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating two burglaries on service stations in Beaufort last week.

Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating two burglaries on service stations in Beaufort last week.

The first incident took place around 3.40am on Wednesday 16 April when offenders forced entry to the Red Kangaroo Roadhouse on the Western Highway. 

A significant quantity of cigarettes was stolen, and equipment within the store was damaged before the offenders fled the scene.

Shortly afterwards, a second attempted burglary occurred at Ampol service station on Neill Street. 

Police were told the offenders smashed the front glass door in an effort to gain access but were unsuccessful.

The offenders are believed to have fled in two vehicles, a grey Ford Ranger and a black Mazda CX5, which police believe were stolen earlier in the night from a property in Alfredton.

Detectives believe the two incidents are connected and are calling on the public for assistance.
