The Wimmera Mail Times is proud to present the summer edition of Out & About. The long days of daylight saving mean we all have time to spend in the garden, play tourist in our home town, and take advantage of the fabulous dining out options on offer.

Due to a record wet spring our water storages are plump and healthy and we're all looking forward to a record summer. Water equals visitors in our part of the world.
Whether you like to swim, go fishing, like a ski, or fancy a calm sail on a lake, our region has it all.
Summer is the season to be jolly and relax with family and friends too. So a day out shopping with friends, especially those enterprises showcased in Out & About, promises some of the coolest spots to shop, explore and to meet for a coffee and cake. Spoil yourself!

Imagination and whimsy at Dimboola
After 20 years in the restaurant industry in Melbourne, Chan and Jamie decided on a complete tree-change.
"My partner Jamie and I decided to open the Dimboola Imaginarium because we wanted to create a whimsical retail experience within the original bank chamber," Chan said.
There are not many imaginariums in the world, but the former bank building is also the family home, where this enterprising couple have created a hybrid retail concept.
"The ultimate goal is to give people joy when they enter the Dimboola Imaginarium. You never know what you will discover.
Kaniva's spirit of Christmas
The Sheep Art Trail, the only one of its kind in the world, stretches 900 metres from the Silo Art, through the main street, and down to the Kaniva Wetlands and Fauna Park.
There are over 40 sheep all painted and buffed by the locals, with the sheep dressed in custom made Christmas hats and carrying Christmas trees at this time of the year. The interactive games and tours all leave from the Kaniva Visitor Information Centre.

The Halls Gap Zoo experience
Everything at Halls Gap Zoo is slowly getting back to normal. The animals are much happier with visitors coming to see them. The deer and the wallabies, and especially the goats being hand fed by customers. Not to mention the show offs - the encounter animals - such as the meerkats, dingos, rhinoceros and giraffe because they simply love the attention.
The zoo has had a great 'baby' spring, with two new Golden Lion Tamarins and a baby ringtail lemur. There will also be a new animal species turning up soon that will be sure to intrigue all visitors!

The Halls Gap Zoo team is passionate about supporting endangered and threatened species through breeding programs.
Halls Gap Zoo is located at 4061 Ararat-Halls Gap Road Halls Gap which is about 20 minutes from Stawell, 35 minutes from Ararat and 1.5 hours from Wimmera. The zoo is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm.

I love the writing game. It gets me bouncing out of bed, and dragging my feet at night when I have to finish up for the day. I started at The Bendigo Advertiser as the Creative Services Coordinator, and after many changes, I have ended up with a great 12 years with ACM (love that long service leave too as my secret gardens need tending sometimes). Working from home is tops and I hope I have many more productive times ahead.
