The Ararat Turf Club has announced that for the second consecutive year, public spectators won't be permitted to attend the Ararat Gold Cup and Programmed Ararat Bowl race day on Sunday, November 7.

The event will only be open to fully vaccinated sponsors, members and owners.
The Club had hoped to welcome the public back for the event in line with the Government's roadmap.
However, due to strict COVID-19 regulations whereby industry participants and public racegoers were required to be separate, the Club decided that the Ararat racecourse's layout was unsuitable for enforcing those conditions.

ATC chairman Bruce McDougall said the committee was "disappointed" that crowds would not be coming back for a second year.
"Although we do take comfort that we are permitted to continue to race with limited numbers of sponsors, members and owners in attendance," McDougall said.
"We will now turn our focus to the 2022 bet365 Ararat Gold Cup & Programmed Ararat Bowl Race Day where we will look forward to welcoming back crowds and the local community to showcase our feature race day."
