According to Cancer Council Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world with at least two in three Australians to be diagnosed with some form of skin cancer before the age of 70.
The Lions V Districts Cancer Foundation launched the Skin Check Van in early 2021 following excellent financial support from Lions Clubs and generous public and private supporters.

The van will provide a free skin screening service to Ararat residents and will be operated by fully trained, certificated and professionally supervised volunteers.
The unit will provide free skin checks and information about skin care and self-checking techniques.

Following the skin check, visitors will be issued with a referral to their GP if there are any suspect spots or lesions.
The Unit simply provides the skin check and alerts the visitor to skin lesions that require further checking and attention.
The air conditioned van has three fully equipped screening rooms and an entry foyer, as well as a disabled lift and entry at the rear.
