The single-lane bridge over Salt Creek on Pollands Road will be rebuilt into a two-lane concrete bridge that will improve connectivity through Moyston and help all motorists reach their destination sooner and safer.
Council chief executive Dr Tim Harrison said the project would allow for "better and safer travel" through Moyston.
"When works are complete it will provide a safer and more reliable journey for all road users," Dr Harrison said.
"The new twin-span bridge over Salt Creek is about providing better and safer travel connections through Moyston."
"The new bridge will include flexible safety barriers and guard fences, providing a safer and reliable route for all road users."

Dr Harrison said the newly installed support beams would allow heavier vehicles and loads to travel on the new bridge.
"Over the past month, crews have been working hard to demolish the old bridge on Pollands Road, excavate the bridge abutments and carry out foundation works, paving the way for the concrete pour," he said.
"Our crew are focused on getting the foundation right, using innovative techniques like circular piling to create the foundations of the new rail bridge, while saving space and time."
"Additionally, the team has installed the headstocks placed on top of the piling to support the beams that will form the bridge deck. The new span can accommodate heavier loads."
OTHER NEWS:
The $650,000 project will be built by Civil & Earth Australia contractors and Council's civil works team.
The rebuilt Pollands Bridge is expected to be ready for use by late October.
Due to the bridge replacement works, road across the Salt creek between Smith Road and Redman Road will be closed until October 15. Detours will be in place during this time.
