The eight-race program kicks off at 12.53pm with a small field of six starters in the Woodlands Stud Pace over 1700 metres and concludes at 5.53pm with a wid- open affair, the Hygain Tracktorque Pace, to wind up the last leg of the quaddie.
Harness fans can still follow all the action at the Horsham Racing Centre live and free on their device on the Trots Vision stream, Sky Racing or the national racing radio network with full fields, form-guides and punting plans available at www.harness.org.au.
Horsham horseman Steve Blacker notched up his 5th win in the sulky at Ballarat on Wednesday night when he reined his 5yo gelding Kolovos to an all-the-way victory.
Blacker took the initiative from gate two at the start of the 2200m journey, pushing forward with his charge and crossing to the pegs as they headed into the first turn.
The son of Bettors Delight USA raced kindly in the lead and ambled through a middle-half in 63.4 seconds before dashing home in splits of 28.7 and 27.9 to score by four metres in a rate of 1:58.7.
OTHER NEWS:
Blacker purchased the former Kiwi pacer some eighteen months ago and now into its second preparation, Kolovos has built the handy record of 4 wins, 7 minors and $20,000 from 16 starts on this side of the ditch.
Terang raced on Tuesday and stables south of Highway 8 dominated the night with victories going to the Tindale, Craven, Horsnell, East, Lee, Brosnan and Cahir stables.
The Great Westerners managed to get the single look-in for the night, when Sport Dreamer led from go-to-whoa in the third on the card with Kerryn Manning aboard for her trainer/father Peter and owner/brother Ashley.
The 5yo gelding is no star but is usually around the mark, evidenced by a consistent record of 6 wins, 18 minors and $42,140 from 68 starts.
No doubt the family are hoping for a repeat performance from Sport Dreamer on Monday having drawn the prime pole position in the seventh event at Horsham.
Long time St. Arnaud owner/trainer Denis McIntyre made it into the winner's circle at Maryborough on Monday when his 7yo gelding Dot The Eye out-toughed the opposition and record his 10th career victory at start number 101.
Driver Michael Bellman had no hesitation in taking Dot The Eye forward early in the contest to sit outside the leader and waited until the 800 mark before applying the heat to Swayzee (Riley Butt).
Splits of 27.0 and 28.4 saw the pair break well clear of the rest and at the finish line it was Dot The Eye, too strong for his brave 3YO rival, to the fore by 1.5m in a rate of 2.00.2.
