The Ararat Fitness Centre has some changes headed its way with two new group fitness classes and extended opening hours on Sundays on the cards.
From August 22, Ararat Fitness Centre will open on Sundays from 8am to 5pm, with the centre also introducing a new group fitness timetable with two fresh classes; 'Fitball' and a lunch time 'Blast-Off' session with new instructor Natalie.
Ararat Rural City Council Mayor Jo Armstrong said Ararat Fitness Centre's program has expanded to offer a more accessible and personalised health and fitness experience for the local community.
"Enhancing the health, happiness and wellbeing of our community is a top priority for Ararat Rural City Council," said Cr Armstrong.
"Ararat Fitness Centre plays a vital role in supporting opportunities for our community to participate in physical activity, more often.
"It's why we continue to explore ways of improving our facilities to make our gym, group fitness and pool facilities more accessible."
Staffing changes at the fitness centre have also been made, with six permanent staff and a mix of part-time and full-time staff among the customer service, lifeguard, and aquatic education teams."
"Customer service underpins the centre's operations, and we want to ensure there's always someone available to help with our enquiry during the day, after hours and over the weekend," Cr Armstrong said.
"They specialise in the group fitness and membership offering and can help point you in the right direction if you're looking for a new activity, sport or fitness class - such as a the new Fitball and lunchtime Blast-off sessions.
"With over 300 children enrolled in our swimming program to learn how to enjoy the water safely, our aquatics team has expanded with a new aquatic administrator and two lifeguards to help maintain a consistent and safe environment for the benefit of all.
"Fitness facilities are great for community health - they play an important role in boosting the wellbeing of our community through physical, mental, and social activity. I'm proud of the direction we're taking with the Centre, ensuring residents get the very best visitor experience and greater access to the facilities."
