Regional Victorians were given an early reprieve from the statewide lockdown at 11.59pm on Monday and as such have been given the greenlight for community sport to go ahead.
The WFNL will proceed without spectators as government regulations state that the number of people allowed to attend community sport is "limited to minimum number of people required to participate in and facilitate the activity".
"We're back to the protocols we had before this lockdown," AFL Wimmera-Mallee manager Jason Muldoon told the Ararat Advertiser.
OTHER NEWS:
Round 16 was originally slated for August 7, but will now be played on August 14, instead of round 17. Round 16 is the last round needed to be played to ensure every WFNL team plays each other at least once.
"The Wimmera League will play round 16, they'll miss 17 and play 18 the week after. That's the plan so far," Muldoon said.
According to Muldoon "at this stage" the WFNL finals series scheduled to commence on August 28 will go ahead as planned.
