Harricks finished his three rounds of the course with a score of just 225, putting him nine points clear of his father, Robert Harricks.
The first round of the competition was partially delayed due to rain; however, when Michael Harricks eventually took to the course, he wasted no time showing his class.
He finished the first round on 69, with an impressive run of birdies on the first, fifth, 10th, 11th, and 14th holes.

"Having a good first round definitely helped," Harricks said.
"I think I putted quite well on that first day which is always a plus."
Harricks said he also enjoyed having his father with him at the top of the scorecards.
"It's pretty cool finishing first and second, we've done that a few times," he said.
OTHER NEWS:
Harricks said the superb condition of the course had also added to the competition.
"The course was fantastic," he said.
"The first day we had a beautiful sunny day, and then the second day the course played quite tough because it rained. Then the third day, the course was set up quite tough, so it was a bit of a challenge, which is good because obviously, on the last round of a championship, you want to be playing hard.
"The ground staff have done a fantastic getting it into the condition they have."
