East Grampians Health Services has announced its COVID-19 vaccination program will begin on Friday, March 19.

The first vaccinations will be distributed to residential aged care facilities by trained immunisation nurses. These facilities will include 70 Lowe Street, Garden View Court, and Willaura Healthcare. Front line healthcare workers will also be among the first to receive the vaccine.
East Grampians Health Services chief executive Andrew Freeman said this would ensure those most at risk to the virus would receive the vaccines.
"Our residents are part of Phase 1A of the vaccination program, where the most vulnerable members of our community receive the vaccine first, "he said.

"Our front line healthcare workers are also part of Phase 1A and will soon commence receiving their vaccinations, followed by the remainder of our health care staff as part of Phase 1B."
Immunisation nurses for the East Grampians Health Services sub hub have recently undertaken extensive training to prepare the vaccines to roll out.
