Greens MLC David Shoebridge has asked the NSW Parliament government grant's inquiry to scrutinise the Black Summer bushfires relief, claiming the Wagga Wagga electorate received too much of the $177 million on offer.
Mr Shoebridge, who is chairman of the Public Accountability Committee that is running the grants inquiry, told The Daily Advertiser that he likely had enough support to extend the probe that is currently looking at the $252 million Stronger Communities Fund.
"We have seen $177 million as the first substantial round of state and federal funding being used for directly political outcomes," he said.
"The funds were overwhelmingly allocated towards Coalition seats and in circumstances where many of the projects have gone to parts of the state based on politics rather than the need to recover from the fires.
"It is remarkable that $56 million, almost a third of all the funds went to the state seat of Wagga, which is wholly within the Deputy Prime Minister's seat of Riverina; Wagga was fire affected but was by no means the most fire-affected part of the state."

Public Accountability Committee members John Graham, from Labor, and Robert Borsak, from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, have said they will support an inquiry into bushfire grants with two additional days of hearings.
The grants inquiry has focused on NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and the distribution of the Stronger Communities Fund in the Riverina after Ms Berejiklian testified at the Independent Commission Against Corruption to previously being in a "close personal relationship" with former Wagga MP Daryl Maguire.
The Department of Regional NSW, which is led by Deputy Premier John Barilaro, has defended the bushfire grants as a staged program that is not yet complete and said it worked with the National Bushfire Recovery Agency to identify projects for early funding.
Mr Barilaro will reportedly attend the grants inquiry's hearings this month.
