Rainfall and thunderstorms are expected across Victoria on Friday, January 29, due to a combination of deepening low-pressure trough set to cross the state and an infeed of tropical moisture from the upper atmosphere.
Rainfall of 30-60mm is also expected in the warning area, with the possibility of isolated falls of up to 90mm.
River levels are likely to rise in the areas that experience the heaviest rainfall, potentially causing minor flooding.

On Wednesday, January 27, Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Chris Arvier similarly warned of humidity building towards heavy rains on Friday.
"Friday will be quite a significant weather day for Victoria," he said.
"It's looking like (there will be) significant amounts of rainfall, and the thunderstorms also bring the risks of the heaviest falls and damaging winds."
People are encouraged to prepare for flooding by heading to ses.vic.gov.au/get-ready/floodsafe.
Weather forecasts and river levels can also be monitored at bom.gov.au/vic/warnings.
