The call came through at about 2.30pm to assist Ambulance Victoria locate an injured hiker on the Pinnacle track.

SES deputy controller Brody Stewart said it took about two hours to reach the hiker.

"Ambulance Victoria sent a helicopter in to lift the hiker to safety," he said.

"The hiker will be transported to hospital.

"It's been a busy few days for our crews with the storms and now a rescue."

Mr Stewart said as the holiday period set in, now was a good time to remind walkers and hikers to take note of the emergency markers.

"Always be prepared," he said.

"Take notice of the emergency markers even if you think you won't need them you never know what could happen.

"You could also pass someone who is in trouble so they are always the best reference point for emergency services."
