Santa Claus came to town on Friday, December 18, as the Ararat Fire Brigade escorted him on one of their firetrucks to meet residents and give some early Christmas presents to the children.

District Support Officer Nicole Bendelle said Santa's visit was enjoyed by many.
"It went really well," she said.
"There was a really good turnout of people to see Santa. It was a good night"

Santa stopped at different parts of the town to give lollies to children and allow them to have their pictures taken with him.
While the brigade was excited to host Santa, Ms Bendelle said the most important thing for it was reconnecting with the community.
"With the conversations we had with the community they were glad to see us back out there which was good," she said.
"And that's what the whole thing was about: community re-engagement.
"We're just looking forward to getting more involved again, once COVID restrictions ease we've got more planned for the community, with a station open day and other things."
The brigade has further reason for festive cheer, as the weather forecast suggests it will not be particularly busy over the festive season.
