Grampians Regional Tourism Board has partnered with Ararat Rural City Council, Northern Grampians Shire Council, Southern Grampians Shire Council and Horsham Rural City Council to encourage Australians to 'Live The Grampians Way' and embrace the abundance of career and lifestyle opportunities available in the region.

In 2018, the Grampians region population was 59,236 and had grown by just 1.56 per cent between 2006-16. In comparison, the population of Victoria grew by 20.16 per cent in the same decade.

As a result, the Grampians region job market is experiencing a labour shortage and is well positioned to welcome Australians who are seeking new career paths.

"Live The Grampians Way provides a coordinated approach between both state and local governments, and the local industry, to take advantage of the likeability of the region to attract new residents, expand the local workforce, and investment in the community," said Grampians Tourism chief executive Marc Sleeman.

"As 2020 has proven, employees no longer need to live close to the office and living regionally offers Australians the opportunity to gain back time with family as a result of no longer making the excessive commute into the city.

"The Grampians region provides residents with space to breath along with affordable and green living opportunities not found in metropolitan areas."

Mr Sleeman said the Grampians region had experienced record visitation numbers.

"In 2018 along we reached 1.1 million domestic overnight visitors, and the area is also experiencing unprecedented development investment which is causing a major labour shortage across the region," he said.

"On average job vacancies reach up to 150 existing roles across a variety of local industries each year, equating to over 750 open roles.

"In particular, the top five most difficult jobs to fill include healthcare professionals, trade professionals, executives and senior managers, engineers and chefs."
