Ararat Rural City Council have started the Christmas season with new decorations going up all around the municipality.

This year there is a 9.3m tall Christmas tree on the Corner of Vincent Street and High Street, as well as three 3m tall trees in Willaura, Lake Bolac and Pomonal.
ARCC chief executive Dr Tim Harrison said unfortunately, big Christmas celebrations and gatherings this year had been limited by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Council was unable to get the wider public involved in-person with our traditional Christmas celebrations," he said
"We still want people to get excited about Christmas and make this holiday period as festive as possible. We have created a short video with some local community members to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, which will be on our website soon."
IN OTHER NEWS:
ARCC councillors, mayor Jo Armstrong and Dr Harrison visited the townships to celebrate the start of the festive season and wish the people of the Ararat Rural City a Merry Christmas.
Other festive decorations include new banners which line Barkly Street in Ararat, Christmas decals across council buildings and other ornaments across Ararat Rural City.
The Christmas trees around Ararat Rural City light up after 9pm.
