Hundreds of Victorian Labor members have been expelled from the party following an investigation into allegations of branch stacking.

The audit, conducted by party stalwarts Steve Bracks and Jenny Macklin, found about 1700 members were identified as "non-genuine".
Many had missing contact details or shared contact details with multiple members in the party and often paid by untraceable means.
The expelled members also refused to co-operate with the audit and did not respond to a letter giving them an opportunity to explain why they were a genuine member of the party.
Mr Bracks and Ms Macklin were appointed administrators of Victorian Labor by Premier Daniel Andrews in June, after claims of branch stacking were levelled against former powerbroker Adem Somyurek.
It is alleged Mr Somyurek handed over cash and used parliamentary employees to create fake branch members and amass political influence.
Staff of Mr Somyurek's factional allies Robin Scott and Marlene Kairouz were also allegedly involved in his branch-stacking efforts.
AAP understands additional measures to stamp out branch stacking will be discussed when the Australian Labor Party national executive meets on Friday.
In a statement, Ms Macklin said the work of the audit is not yet finished.
"The only way to restore confidence in the integrity of the Party's membership roll was to conduct an objective and forensic audit across all branches," she said.
Mr Bracks said he was determined not to waste a "once in a generation opportunity to reform the party and ensure it is made up of genuine, consenting and self-funding members".
Mr Somyurek was sacked from the ministry by the premier and resigned from the Labor Party, ahead of a move to expel him. He has denied the branch-stacking allegations.
Ms Kairouz and Mr Scott resigned from cabinet but have vowed to clear their names.
Mr Andrews said legitimate members had nothing to fear from the reform.
"We need to be a political party that is focused on the fights that matter, not fights internally," he told reporters on Wednesday.
"The fight against poverty, the fight against inequality, the fight against injustice across our state ... That's the fight that matters.
"We've got some work to do to change the culture of our show."
