The discovery comes after Ararat Police intercepted a vehicle and found 40kg of cannabis about midnight on Monday.
As a result from enquiries, Ararat CIU discovered a sophisticated hydroponic set-up at a property in Lambert Street.
Ararat Detective Senior Constable Mal Wineberg said there was about 150-200 plants located at the property.
"The set-up was of commercial quantity," he said
"No further arrests have been made at this stage.
"We've located an illegal bypass for power. We are still making enquiries at this stage."
