Ararat Gallery TAMA manager Jacqueline Grenfell said the new exhibition Looking Through Time, explored notions of Australian basketry practices from the late 1970s to early 1990s.
"You can expect a deep dive into one of the most widely spread cultural practices in the world, basketry. Visitors will also get to view TAMA's most recent acquisition, a trio of baskets by First Nations-Italian artist Lisa Waup," she said.
"The collection is a true celebration of Waup's distinctive weaving practice and themes close to her heritage - tracing lost history, country, motherhood and time."

Mrs Grenfell said art galleries have faced some of the most strict COVID-19 reopening guidelines.
"It has been fantastic to reopen. It is a wonderful reminder of why we do what we do," she said.
"The people that have come through have been very appreciative of the COVID safe protocols that we have put in place.
"There is clear signage for the public so they feel comfortable around social distancing. We have hand sanitiser at the door and signage to remind people about face masks.
"For now some of our larger events such as openings will be on hold until it is safe for us to do that. And we have put an each cleaning roster in place."
Ararat Rural City Council chief executive Dr Tim Harrison said art and culture played a significant role in the region.
"Arts and culture plays an important role in the fabric of life in Ararat Rural City, and the gallery ensures our community can access a high-quality art locally," he said.
"In line with the easing of restrictions based on the advice of the Chief Health Officer, council is pleased to welcome back visitors to enjoy the impressive offerings of the Ararat Gallery.
"The safety and wellbeing of our staff and visitors remains our top priority. As such, TAMA will ensure appropriate measures such as limits on visitor numbers, queue management, increased cleaning of facilities, hand sanitizer stations and an online booking system are on offer.
"The reopening and launch of the basketry exhibition is a great opportunity to increase local engagement with the arts and showcase our collection."
Services will reopen with usual operating hours but with strict capacity rules. Visitors will be limited to 20 customers at a time for a period of 1.5 hours, in line with the latest COVID Safe guidelines.
