An operation commenced to remove camps and protesters from restricted areas as highway constructions work continues between Buangor and Ararat.
"General duties police are being supported by units from the Highway Patrol and specialist support units to ensure the safety of all people in the area," a police spokesperson said.
"Victoria Police respects people's right to protest peacefully and are there to ensure no breaches of the peace or antisocial behaviour occurs as a result of protest action at the site.
"Officers work hard to provide a safe environment for all people involved in protests as well as the broader community."
The Ararat Advertiser has reached out to known contacts within the camp and is awaiting a response.
More to come.
