The new season will look quite different to last, with coronavirus restrictions placing some "normal practices" on match day on hold.
Bowls Victoria recommends the use of a facemask in a safe and responsible manner and limiting the use to communal spaces.
Grampians Bowls Division president Andrew Reading said the restrictions changed frequently.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Some have been lifted and some haven't so it could all change again by the time we start," he said.
"We've got to work within the restrictions.
"But Bowls Victoria has said it's safe to play as long as we follow the guidelines which include social distancing on the greens."
Mr Reading said sitting down for afternoon teas was off the cards "at this stage".
"It would be too much work with the deep cleaning after each session so we've decided to put that on hold," he said.
"It will be very basic bowling but we can get up and going and that's the main thing.
"The season did look unlikely a few months ago.
"There are a lot of people who would be eager to play and have missed going interstate to play bowls on holidays over winter."
Mr Reading said at the division's annual general meeting earlier in October, most clubs indicated they were expecting good player numbers for the season.
"There is no doubt there might be some people who don't think we should be playing but the majority said we do," he said.
The season will consist of a 14 week season which will allow division one to contest two full rounds.
MORE NEWS:
Following the 14 weeks, a finals series will be played.
Mr Reading said as numbers continue to decline of active cases in Victoria he expected the restrictions to ease as well.
"We're hoping after Christmas and leading into our finals series restrictions will ease which will hopefully allow for fewer restrictions," he said.
"It would be nice to see a bit of a crowd at the finals series if the restrictions allow."
