There are no active coronavirus cases in Ararat.

The Northern Grampians also remains free of any active cases.

DHHS figures released this afternoon show there is still once case assigned to Horsham, though this is a person who contracted the virus in Melbourne and has not visited the region while infectious.

There were no new cases reported in regional local government areas today.

The number of active cases in regional Victoria also dropped to a total of 26.

Statewide, the number of active cases has fallen to 743, down from 834 yesterday.

It comes as the state experienced a daily increase below 20 for the first time in nearly three months.

There were just 14 new cases reported, nine of which are linked to known outbreaks, while five are still under investigation.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the figures offered cause for optimism.

"This is a good day, a day where Victorians can be proud of the work they've done, their commitment (and) their resolve to see this off and to defeat this virus in its second wave properly comprehensively and sustainably," he said.
