On Friday, the Bureau of Meteorology predicted the Wimmera could receive rainfalls of between 20 and 30 millimetres across Saturday, before the wet weather moved east on Sunday.
Up to 5pm, areas from the top of the Grampians south had received the lion's share of the steady showers.
However, Warracknabeal received 10.8 millimetres between 7.30pm Saturday and 2.30am Sunday, having had nothing for the weekend before this time.
In the 48 hours to 9am Sunday, Edenhope and Kanagulk have received nearly an entire month's worth of rainfall.
Kanagulk sheep and crop farmer Nick Pekin said the rain set him, and others in the area, up for the back half of the growing season.
"We are never out of the woods until it's in the silo, and frosts are our next big issue," he said.
"A frost in November four years ago knocked out our wheat, and lately we've had rains and frosts the next day which is unheard of. The climate doesn't know what it wants to do!"
Mr Pekin is now hoping for some more rain in the coming week. The bureau is predicting Horsham could see some rain between Wednesday and Saturday, while temperatures for the week won't reach lower than two degrees on Tuesday.

- Edenhope: 35.4 mm
- Horsham: 20 mm
- Longerenong: 19 mm
- Kanagulk: 38.8 mm
- Nhill: 17.4 mm
- Stawell: 24 mm
- Ararat (Ben Nevis): 32 mm
Friday 2pm: The Wimmera could receive the highest rainfall totals of anywhere in regional Victoria during the wet weather forecast for Saturday.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Michael Efron said light rains would develop in Melbourne around midnight, before becoming heavier during the afternoon and evening.
"By the end of Saturday we are looking at 15 to 30 millimetres across the Melbourne region," he said.
"The wet will be extending up to agricultural areas as well. The Wimmera district, in particular, (is)looking at falls of 20 to 30 millimetres through there.
"Throughout the south-west district, we will see 10 to 20 millimetres of rain."
The bureau is predicting Horsham to receive up to 25 millimetres of rain on Saturday, Warracknabeal 30mm, Nhill 25, Edenhope 15, Stawell 25 and Ararat 25.
Mr Efron said strong northerly winds would ease throughout Saturday. He said the rain would start to "contract to eastern districts" by Sunday.
The bureau is warning sheep graziers there is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
