"The first lockdown we delivered a care bag to all of our veterans, to let them know that we were thinking of them. This time we have started individual phone calls," she said
"We play an important role. The RSL is not just a food and beverage place, we are a veterans services organisation.
"That's why we are open as well ... so we can maintain good engagement with veterans and their families."

The RSL is also offering takeaway and free delivery, which is a new addition to the business.
"We started doing takeaway delivery at the beginning of the second lockdown," she said.
"Takeaway is new to our business and we will continue to do deliveries post COVID-19, so that's a positive.
"We got a buzz box car yesterday so we are pretty happy with that. We can deliver meals to our veterans, their families and the wider community.
"It's not about making heaps of money ... it's all about keeping engaged with our staff and also the community."

Mrs Whitford said the RSL was also offering takeaway meals and coffees to tradies in the morning.
"It's something new we are trying to develop, to deliver their morning 'smoko'," she said.
"We did a trial run on Thursday and delivered egg and bacon rolls and coffees to tradies working in the area.
"It got the thumbs up from tradies ... although we need to find a better way to deliver coffees."
