But after only one season, two games and a hometown debut at UTAS Stadium, that bond was swiftly broken on the opening day of the AFLW trade period on Monday.
It has left just TSLW teammates Daria Bannister and Mia King from Launceston remaining at Arden Street.
An integral part of the 2017 TSLW premiers, Green was traded to Collingwood in exchange for the Magpies' pick No.40 ahead of the national draft in October.
The Kangaroos can argue they were able to "up-trade" their second-string ruck after acquring the Queechy High student for a steal at No.79.
The 23-year-old was said to have made an impression on Collingwood scouts in her debut season in the VFLW, which lies somewhere in between the AFLW and TSLW.
North Melbourne's recent redundancy of its acclaimed ex-coach Scott Gowans, who was a big rap for Green after her maiden appearance, is said to influenced the move.
But Green still expressed gratitude to the North Melbourne Tasmania Kangaroos for their willingness to invest in the football convert.
"The friendships that I've formed and the support I've received from the club will forever be cherished."
"I'm excited to embark on a new journey at Collingwood. I can't wait to get started and hope I'm able to add something special."
Jane-Woodlands Thompson, Collingwood's general manager of women's sport, believed that Green will slot perfectly into Collingwood's team structure.
Green, who was named in the 2019 TSLW team of the year, has been earmarked to play both in the middle and up forward after kicking two goals in a second and last game for the Kangaroos.
"Green's height and athleticism are desirable traits for Collingwood's second-ruck option and we look forward to having her on board," Woodlands-Thompson said.
"We also thank North Melbourne for their cooperation in coming to a fair deal for both clubs."
The 183cm athlete was the second of four trades.
North Melbourne's AFLW list and football performance manager Rhys Harwood also added: "Abbey has been a pleasure to have in our program, and we wish her all the best at Collingwood".
