Maddens came calling in Katherine along with Brisbane-based Shine Lawyers in 2018 seeking to sign up people to pursue legal action.

Shine Lawyers eventually registered more than 1000 residents and won a class action settlement from the Defence Department for $92.5 million for Katherine in March.

Many residents registered late for the class action and it is known many people who had opted out of the class action still believe they are also entitled to compensation for lost property values.

Maddens Lawyers says it is already "working with a number of Katherine residents" to progress claims for compensation against the Department of Defence on an individual basis.

The legal firm says there are significant benefits to advancing individual claims including the provision of targeted advice and the likelihood of avoiding the delays and expenses often associated with court proceedings.

Maddens Lawyers' principal Kathryn Emeny said: "We're continuing to receive contact from community members who are interesting in advancing individual claims.

"The class action recently settled, and those who did not participate may now be looking at other options. Maddens Lawyers encourage those people who are exploring their options to get in touch."

She said more than 100 property owners took steps to opt out of the PFAS contamination class action.

"Although they are not participating in the class action, each of these people could still have a claim for compensation - it is not too late to advance an individual claim," Ms Emeny said.

"Maddens Lawyers are progressing claims on a 'no win, no fee' basis. There is no litigation funder involved. Our clients will not have to pay a funding commission or contribute to costs associated with PFAS claims in other areas."
