Organisers posted a statement on social media, which noted new dates will be announced "as soon as it's practical to do so".
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that the Rainbow Serpent team have decided that given the escalating concerns around COVID-19, that for the safety and wellbeing of our patrons, artists, staff and the broader community, we feel it's best to postpone our Easter Rainbow Regen event," the statement reads.
"We were pumped to bring you an incredible lineup, in an event that means so much to our team and the broader Rainbow community in the midst of what we can only say has been a crazy and difficult festival season.
"The impact on Rainbow Serpent Festival this year has been severe to say the least, but this is nothing in the bigger scheme of all the chaos going on in the world at the moment.
"We will announce new dates as soon as it's practical to do so.
"While the Victorian and Federal Governments do not have any restrictions on large events, or relevant international flights into Australia at this time, the directives of COVID-19 are escalating quickly. Based on the discussions we have had with our local council, community and other authorities, we feel the most appropriate action needed at this time is to postpone.
"Eventbrite will automatically refund all Rainbow Regen tickets purchased through the Eventbrite platform. Refunds will be processed next week, please allow 14-21 business days for the funds to appear on your statement.
"We wish you all the best over these next few months of challenging times - but look forward to seeing you on the dancefloor again as soon as possible."
