The event commenced on Thursday and will run through to Saturday.
Hosted at Moyston Oval, the trials are set up to mirror tasks of the farm and skills a good sheepdog needs to possess.
The dog must do all the work, unaided by the handler, who only can give instruction by whistle or words. The obstacles are a gate, a race, a bridge and a pen. Time allowed is 15 minutes. The handlers are men and women of all ages, quite often retired farmers.
Excellent country catering is available everyday. Morning and afternoon tea is $5 and a 2 course lunch is $12. Visitors and spectators are most welcome for a gold coin entry. Friday night meals from 6-7pm, bar open from 6-10pm and entertainment from 6-9pm.
