Victoria Police says it is pleased with the Wimmera's uptake of its online and phone portals for reporting crime.

On July 1, 2019, police launched the Police Assistance Line (131 444) and Online Reporting service where all Victorian residents could report non-urgent crimes such as property damage, theft or noise complaints.
On Friday, police said in its first three months, 31 per cent of all burglary and break and enter reports in the Wimmera came through the two new channels.
Wimmera residents also left eight per cent of all property damage reports and 14 per cent of all theft reports through the new services in the three months to September 30.
Victoria Police Inspector Steve Towers said in a statement: "These new services have reduced the amount of time local police spend taking reports on non-urgent crimes, giving them more time to be out in the community doing proactive work.
"Across Victoria, we have seen the community continue to utilise these convenient services with over 500,000 calls received at the Police Assistance Line.
"If you have a question for police, or wish to report a crime or event that doesn't require our immediate attendance, such as an item of lost property or property damage, call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 or visit police.vic.gov.au/palolr."
