A CAR passenger has been taken to Ballarat Base Hospital after a car crashed into a tree on Tobin Street, Ararat 5.10pm Friday afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle was travelling in a south-westerly direction at about 60km/h when she swerved and crashed into the tree.
A trailer attached to the car has tipped over in the collision.
Only two people were in the car.
Sergeant Jarrod Chatfield said the extent of the passenger's injuries are unknown but are not believed to be serious.
The driver escaped injury.
"The CFA is onsite to disconnect the battery in the car and the ambulance and SES are onsite for the rescue," he said.
The street is currently blocked to traffic in both directions.
