The search for missing Serpentine man Ian Whinfield, 82, has been called off after emergency services spent five days searching through bush for him.
The search was called off on Monday December 30 due to extreme heat.
It was not recommenced on Tuesday as efforts had failed to turn up any clues as to Ian's whereabouts.
Ian was last seen leaving a family event on Christmas Day in Lake Bolac.
Family notified police he was missing when he failed to return to his Serpentine home the next day.
The State Emergency Service, Police Search and Rescue, Air Wing and motorcycle units searched the area in bushland near Glenpatrick and Nowhere Creek, where Ian's vehicle was located on December 26.
Police urged anyone with information on Ian's whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
Police did not discourage people from taking part in their own searches, so long as this does not place them in any danger or difficulty.
