Despite a few "off games" Woods has managed to still make an impact on the scoreboard.
Trying to maintain his confidence and consistency towards the basket, Woods said he can get frustrated at times when his shots won't drop.
"I think I'm just overthinking it and I know I just need to keep chill about it," he said.
"Marcus (coach) says if the shots are there just keep putting them up and eventually they will drop."
Woods began his basketball career at the young age of about seven or eight years old.
"Mum played basketball when she was growing up and brought us into the game," he said.
"I've played in Ararat for my whole career. I did play down in Ballarat for a couple of years when I was a junior as well.
"I like the team environment of basketball and the hype involved in the games."
As the Redbacks main ball mover this season, Woods said he just tries to keep calm on the court.
"I just try and play the same basketball I've always played," he said.
"This season, it's obviously a different starting line up due to Zac Dunmore leaving.
"I've had to step up into the role of the main point guard.
"I think the team dynamic is still really good and we've got some really good chemistry out on the court."
The 18-year-old is in his third season of CBL, moving into a leader type role on the court, despite his young age.
"For the younger guys in the first season it can be daunting going up against some of the bigger-bodied opposition players," he said.
"I can relate to the younger players on our team, especially those in their first season. It wasn't that long ago I was in that position.
"I try and chat to them and boost their confidence on the court and encourage them."
In what's been a mediocre season for the Redbacks with four wins and six losses on the board, Woods said the team really focuses on the positives to keep motivated.
"When we do have wins we really focus on what we did right," he said.
"We related back to the wins and the positives for a boost when we need it.
"It builds self-belief within the team. It helps that we have good energy as well all of the time."
Woods has lined up with his younger brother for some CBL games this season, an opportunity he is thankful for.
"We don't get to play together much anymore in a high level of sport because of the age difference," he said.
"It's nice to get out there with him again, I think we gel pretty well.
"We don't play similar roles as he is a bit bigger than me but we know each other's games."
The Redbacks will go up against Stawell Wildcats in Ararat on Saturday night.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
