Lake Bolac were at home to the visiting Landsborough and got all the points on the day Jon Park and Phil Murray both had good wins and Brad Smith just got home over Ben Hodgetts.
In the second match Ararat hosted the Stawell Golf side and it was Golf with the comfortable win on the day. Dave Kaczynski, king of the kids, was the big winner on the day, up by 15 shots over Mick Dowd.
The teams trying to get back in touch with the top four, Chalambar and Aradale, went into battle at Chally. Both teams scored a winning rink, with Shane Todd and Gary Jamieson getting points for each side, but it was the The Tony Carra show up by 19 shots that secured the win for Chally.
In the last match it was the two top sides going head-to-head on the brand new V.R.I green. The green will take a few weeks before it is at its best. The slow pace of the green suited the top side Stawell and they went on to win by a massive 50 shots overall. Grant Seeary with Neil Coates were in hot form and Adrian Troeth's side both had big wins, while Clayton Holcombe earned points for the home-side with a one-shot win over Andrew Sharp.
The ladder sees Stawell well out in front and V.R.I hold onto second position just ahead of the Golf side. Lake Bolac make up the four, with both Chally and Aradale still a big chance to push for a final's position.
Division 2
It was a week of surprises, with some of the top sides getting clean sheeted.
Ararat V.R.I managed to draw against the visiting Stawell Golf Blue. Neil Billett was the big winner on the day for V.R.I, up by nine shots on the day.
Lake Bolac Red played well but fell just short of a win over the visiting Ararat Gold combination. With all matches close, the biggest winner was Greg Day up by six shots for Gold. Stawell Golf Gold, sitting in second position on the ladder and playing at home, got an old fashion touch up by Stawell Blue. The final margin was 40 shots, with Terry Griffith the biggest winner on the day.
In the other big surprise Lake Bolac Black also failed to get any points against the Ararat Green side playing at Ararat. All three rinks won well with Ambrose Joyce and Steve Walker both having big wins. The final margin of 53 shots was a huge result.
In the last match Aradale welcomed Stawell Gold down to the Aradale green and with good wins looked to have done enough to get the points. But it was Stawell's giant killer, Angela Hodgetts, who lead the team that covered the margin and got the team up by just one shot.
The ladder at the half-way point in the season sees the four Stawell-based teams right in the mix for a final's position with the Lake Bolac Black side right in the middle of the pack.
Aradale are just off the pace and the two Ararat sides are still in with a chance of playing finals.
