A light filled room with activities is a break out space for students to relax. School chaplain Michael Lewis said wellbeing was becoming a big focus for schools.
"We're not just about teaching academic skills, it's about providing a whole holistic learning environment," he said.
"This room is used not only for students who could be disruptive in class or struggling, but for those who might just need some time out.
"The common understanding of sensory of calming is sitting still. We find something as simple as a balancing activity for children can work. Upbeat music can work as well. It's because their concentration is turned onto something else."
Mr Lewis said results from the concept of the room could be seen in the change of the student's behaviour.
"It can be very simple things which can enhance a students learning capabilities," he said.
"Every student is different - you have to identify what works for each individual.
"The sensory room is a great place to also grow connections with students. It's amazing the connection you can build with the students from small activities when they feel like they are in a calm and safe environment.
"We were fortunate to purchase some new items for the room from the Woolworths' Earn and Learn program."
Mr Lewis said a number of staff have also used the room to have a break or bring students in to have a chat about their needs.
