The annual toy drive goes towards the Ararat Emergency Relief Committee, a group made up of members from five local churches which provides resources for community members in need.

The car dealership is currently accepting both cash and toys to go under its showroom Christmas tree, and they will be collected and dropped off Christmas Eve to the Ararat Emergency Relief Committee.

Relief Committee volunteers will then wrap them and distribute them to families around the region.

Last year the Ararat Emergency Relief Committee provided hampers and toys for many families in Ararat and surrounding areas.

Children up to the age of 14 were lucky enough to be given toys or gifts they wouldn't have normally received had it not been for the kind donations of residents.

The demand has increased throughout the year so it is expected that the need for donations will also be greater.

Kings Cars general manager Michael Smith said he wanted to break last year's total.

"Hopefully we can break last year's total and in doing so provide gifts and toys for underprivileged children this Christmas," Mr Smith said.

Individuals and businesses don't just have to donate material possessions, with fully tax deductible cash donations also accepted at Kings Cars. Kings Cars is located at 182 High Street.
