To coincide with National Disability Day on December 3, Alexandra Gardens will become a hive of activity between 10am-2pm, as the region celebrations this year's theme, celebrating accessibility.
Ararat Neighbourhood House's Lou Makin said it was important the community works together to ensure everyday inclusion for those with disabilities and their carers.
"Together we can start a conversation about the issues experienced by people with disability to help to make our community more inclusive," she said.
"This will be a wonderful event for the communities of Ararat and surrounding areas.
"We are expecting about 300 people to attend on the day."
There will be a range of activities suitable for all ages and abilities including a walk around Lake Alexandra, face painting, live entertainment, storytelling, duck feeding, jumping castle, sausage sizzle, information stalls, sensory activities and a free sausage sizzle.
Halls Gap Zoo will be in attendance for one of the sensory activities.
"Our event is accessible and we encourage all people with disability, their families and carers to come along and join the fun," Ms Makin said.
"Thousands of community organisations have held International Day of People of Disability registered events across Australia since its inception in 1992.

"We are pleased to represent Ararat as part of this important initiative and we are looking forward to doing our bit to make a positive impact on the lives of people with disability."
A paper chain will be linked around as a display of inclusion on the day.
"There is a group of us who have been meeting weekly for the past six weeks to bring all of this together," Ms Makin said.
"We've done a lot of flyer drops right across the region as this is a community-wide event.
"One activity we're really looking forward to is a large canvas which we will encourage everyone who attends to stamp their handprint on there.
"We are hoping we can get a shop in the Main street to display the canvas for a few weeks after the event."
