The council will draw on funding worth $984,000 from the Roads to Recovery Program to complete the planned Helendoite Road and Tatyoon North Road Project.
The project consists of the reconstruction and widening of 7800 metres worth of the roads and is expected to be complete by June 2020.
Council initially budgeted $2.4M to finish the project but has since ascertained the project will cost a total $3.3M.
That initial budget consisted of $1.2M from the council, with another $1.2M coming from the state government's Fixing Country Roads program.
The total Roads to Recovery Program allocation to council was $7.3M for the 2019-24 period for all eligible road projects across the shire.
The project falls under the council's Capital Works Program.
The council announced earlier this year it would invest a record amount of $14.6M into the program this financial year, compared to the previous financial year's investment of $12.3M.
Some of the program's other projects include installing lighting in Ararat's Alexandra Gardens, constructing new netball courts at Alexandra Oval behind Olver Stand, the Pomonal Speed Safe Initiative, sealing Ararat's Waratah Avenue and the construction of the Lake Bolac Resource Centre to help with the region's waste management.
All of these projects are expected to be completed by December 2019 or at various points throughout 2020 with a high percentage of tenders set to go to local contractors.
