The first-class cricketer was included in Zimbabwe's squad for the 2016 Africa T20 Cup.
Recruited for his batting ability, but it's with the ball Maruma has shown his strengths. The right-armed off spinner said he could feel he was building to a good score with the bat.
"It's coming, I can feel it," he said.
"It takes some time to get settled in different conditions to what I am used to. I know I'm not far off my first big score. I've been working hard and putting in the time.
"Where I come from we always play on turf wickets. Here it's a mixture of hard and turf wickets.
"I feel I am on top of my game at the moment. Sometimes it just takes one innings to turn the season around."
Hailing from Harare, capital of Zimbabwe with a population of 1.5 million people, Maruma has settled into the small country life of Marnoo.
"Everyone knows Australia is home of cricket and there are many big names involved in cricket when I was going up. The weather is beautiful as well."
Maruma said the culture in Australia and life in a small country town was something he had never experienced before.
"It's always good during the week when I'm volunteering to help them on their farms or around the town," he said.
"I'm always with my teammates and spending time getting to know them.
"Marnoo is quiet, for me I don't mind that really.
"Everyone knows everyone. It's so easy to make friends and from what I've seen already I like the place. Everyone is always keen to make a conversation with you.
"In other countries I've been to if you try to make conversation people wont talk to you. Here, it's like I've known everyone for a very long time."
The 27 year-old said he was excited to experience Australian culture and hope to catch an AFL game before he returned home.
"Before I came here I didn't know anything about the sport," he said.
"Arriving in Australia I saw billboards and everything about the game football.
"I am really keen to learn more about the sport and watch a game."
Club member Brylie Cameron said the recruitment process was an exciting initiative for the club.
"We haven't had an international recruit before, only players from other teams," he said.
"It brings a bit of buzz about the club. We got close last year to a premiership so we thought we would boost our team for this season.
"One of Tendai's friends played at a club nearby and we approached him and from there the rest was just process.
"It's been a really good experience so far and Tendai's been really keen in helping our junior cricket program and looking into options of coaching."
