The biggest celebration of all - the street parade - will take place on Sunday October 27 down Barkly Street in Ararat.
The annual parade brings community groups and volunteer organisations together in a colourful display of floats, flags and other props.
"We've got 29 separate entries - there's five or six completely new entries," committee member Wilf Dickeson said.
"It's great. We've had great cooperation from the city council and police about closing off the various roads and so forth to make it a smoother run through."
The parade will kick off at 11am sharp at the Edith Cavell Reserve at the western end of Barkly Street.
From there it will continue down Barkly Street to the traffic lights, before making its way to the Russell T. White Showgrounds, where the Ararat Show is being held on the same day.
What's happening Friday:
Prizes will be awarded to the best floats in the children's category, sporting club category and community category.
Mr Dickeson said so far the show had gone very well.
"The baby show was a terrific success, the mystery bus tour likewise - I think they had a great day," he said.
On the Saturday October 26 there will also be plenty happening.
Festival goers can try out Parkrun at 8am at Alexandra Gardens, which is a free event.
