COMMUTERS travelling outbound on High Street in Ararat Tuesday evening experienced significant delays after a level crossing broke down.
The boom gates got stuck in the down position about 5pm, causing delays of over an hour.
A spokeswoman from ARTC Adelaide, one of the bodies which maintains the rail network, confirmed a technician was due to arrive on site about 6.30pm.
At 6pm traffic was backed up as far as Ararat Train Station and police were on site to manage the scene.
By 6.30pm technicians had repaired the boom gates and traffic had cleared.
