Demons coach Emma Hopper was confident in her teams ability going into the game and said they needed to play out the full four quarters.
The Horsham netballers did just that. They stood up to the challenge of the Rats and got over the line by three points.
"There were a few things we mixed up during the game to help us when we were getting stuck," she said.
"We opened up the centre line and we often forced it in. Once we opened it up it created a lot more space in that end.
"We knew we had to dig deep and hold those few goals we had in the lead in the last quarter."
Hopper said the players knew going into the game that it was going to be four hard quarters.
"They beat us last time we met in the home and away season by three so we knew they were going to fight the game out to the last second," she said.
"We hadn't met them in finals this season so there was a little bit of the unknown of how we would match up in a finals game.
"They're a really strong outfit and it's a really good match up between the two teams."
Demons' defender Alex Neale was named best on court in the C Grade game.
