But Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has refused to be satisfied, insisting his side should have put on a half-ton at the SCG during their rout of South Sydney on Friday night.

The Roosters are within one game of the grand final after their 30-6 defeat of the Rabbitohs during which they fired a shot across the bow of the rest of the competition.

All year there has been a suggestion that no other side can go with the reigning premiers should they hit top gear and they showed why against the Rabbitohs.

It's hard to imagine another team being able to match the type of skill and level of execution which was on display during Mitchell Aubusson's 11th minute try.

When Cooper Cronk ran it on the last, he threw it inside for Luke Keary, who found James Tedesco, then onto Sam Verills who fired a cut-out pass for Aubusson in a display of champagne rugby league.

After leading 26-0 at halftime, the Roosters were guilty of taking their foot off the pedal in the second half and Robinson admitted they at times tried to create points without first earning the right.

And in an ominious warning the rest of the competition, he said the scoreline should have been a lot bigger.

"We're not done, it was 30-6, you're really happy," Robinson said.

"Then you're going 'hang on, I thought we could have had 50-nil there today. Why didn't we have 50-nil? Come on'.

"I know that sounds a bit greedy but I think that's the truth.

"I don't think I'm alone in thinking that could have been the scoreline if we executed better in the second half."

Returning playmaker Keary, who missed last week's loss to the Rabbitohs due to the birth of his first child, proved a difference-maker.

He set up three tries and was the impetus behind the Roosters machine hitting top gear.

Keary paid tribute to his wife Amy, who he said had taken on most of the child-rearing duties and saved him from late-night feeding duties, allowing him to be rested up and in a good head space for the business end of the season.

"Amy's been really good, she understands this time of year, she knows I'll have a bit of time off after," Keary said.

"'I'm a pretty deep sleeper so it's been good.

"He's nice and healthy and she is too."
